Objectives & Functions of PESO

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) ensures the prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of employment services, while also providing information on other DOLE programs. Below are its key objectives and functions:

Ensure the prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of employment services and provide information on other DOLE programs.

  • Provide a venue where individuals can explore various employment opportunities and seek assistance.
  • Serve as a referral and information center for DOLE and other government agencies.
  • Provide adequate information on the employment and labor market situation in the area.
  • Network with other PESO offices within the region for job exchange purposes.

  • Encourage employers to submit a list of job vacancies regularly to facilitate labor market information services for job seekers and employers.
  • Develop and administer testing and evaluation instruments for effective job selection, training, and counseling.
  • Provide entrepreneurial access to various livelihood and self-employment programs offered by government and non-government organizations at different levels.
  • Conduct employability enhancement training/seminars for job seekers and those who wish to change careers.
  • Provide employment counseling, career guidance, and values development activities.
  • Conduct pre-employment counseling and orientation for prospective local and overseas workers.
  • Provide reintegration assistance services to returning Filipino migrant workers.
  • Perform other functions necessary to achieve the objectives of the PESO Act.

We regularly conduct job fairs to bring job seekers and employers together for immediate hiring and networking.

Livelihood & Self-Employment

Gain insights into livelihood programs, especially in rural areas, and explore options for sustainable self-employment.

Overseas Credit Assistance

We offer credit support to qualified applicants who wish to secure employment opportunities overseas.

SPESOS

Provides meaningful employment for deserving students and out-of-school youth from low-income families during school breaks (per RA No. 7323).

Work Appreciation Program

Fosters work ethics and career awareness by exposing young individuals to real-world jobs.

WHIP (RA 6685)

Ensures that government-funded infrastructure projects hire 30% skilled and 50% unskilled workers from the local area.

Other DOLE Programs

We extend help to disadvantaged groups, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and displaced workers, through a variety of initiatives.
